Changing the properties of a group of selected shapes:

Opaque Dimension text

Undo text operation option

Moving Shapes

Pasting of Shapes

Angle arcs

Scalar Triangles

Multi Point shapes

Lines with Slashes

Grid Snapping

Underlines

The menu for Drawing Tools has been re-organized. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes you if you are familiar with the old version but it became necessary to put all single stroke lines under the Lines heading to enable new types to be added without making the menu too long. It also makes for a more logical layout.

Changing the properties of a group of selected shapes: It is now possible to change all the properties of a selection of shapes (except for the Drawing Tool type) at one go. Make a selection around the shapes. Only one node of the shape needs to be in the selection. Change the properties you need via the tool buttons and various dialogs and the changes will be applied immediately.

Opaque Dimension Text

Dimensions (and angled text) can now be drawn opaquely. This is primarily to enable the drawing of text for angles across the Angle Arc without the arc itself interfering with the text. This is selected in the Format menu>Opaque Dimensions.

Note: The current fill color is used to paint the background of angled text and dimensions when set to 'Opaque' prior to drawing the text. For most purposes this is best left unchecked as the background color will be the current color of the brush, which if you are using black text and black brush will result in a black rectangle with no visible text.

Include Delete and Back in Undo text files: At the bottom of the Undo menu; Inc Del and Back in Undo. Leaving this unchecked (the default) prevents the delete and back key rom writing to the undo text files. This conserves disk space. Check this if disk space is no problem. Note that holding either of these keys down only writes to the undo files once but pressing and releasing writes every time.

Moving Shapes: It is no longer necessary to use the right mouse button when selecting shapes. The selecting process now includes all nodes in any particular shape; except for waveforms, where only the right hand node can be selected. To move the origin of waveforms (and other attributes), use the menu Edit>Object Editor.

Pasting of Shapes:: This is a significant change please read. To paste a group of shapes from the internal clipboard. Right click in the edit space and select 'Set Transformation Points' from the popup menu. Left click in the edit space to determine the origin and transform node. These selection nodes may be either existing nodes or 'free space'. If Toggle Line Snapping is checked the transformation nodes will snap to the existing ones. If Scan Grids is checked, then nodes in a grid will be snapped to. It is no longer necessary to use the popup menu to select each node. If Auto Paste Shapes is checked in the options menu, the shapes will be pasted in immediately the second node is selected. Otherwise make a selection with the selection tool, select Paste Cut/Copy. Or select Paste Cut/Copy shapes at last caret position.

Angle Arcs: Have been added to the drawing tools. Four styles: simple, double, with one slash, with two slashes.

Scalar Triangles: have been added to the Triangles menu. Four styles: Simple, simple filled, with arcs, filled with arcs.

Scalar Triangle Note: If you use scalar triangles that are filled, you will need to use a color for the pen which contrasts the brush.

Multi Point shapes: From the Drawing Tools menu Lines>Multi Lines>Closed/Open. A maximum of 15 nodes can be selected to define a shape connected by straight lines. For closed this means the end and start are at the same place. There is no need to select the start when finishing the 'Closed' shape. Right click to finish the shape. If you want a transparent closed figure set the brush style to Clear. Each node of the shape can be selected and dragged to a new position.

Lines with Slashes: Two types: Lines with one slash and Lines with two slashes placed at right angles to and on or about the center.

Grid Snapping: Shapes can now snap to the nodes in grids. Enabled in Options>Toggle Line Snapping>Scan Grids. Don't enable this unless you need it, particularly if you have a high density grid. Unlike other snapping functions the one for grids has to calculate the nodes as the cursor moves. There is also an option in the grids sub menu to disable dynamic drawing of the grid lines. This speeds up drawing somewhat for high density grids.

Underlines: When drawing Underlines (dual horizontal lines) the 'x' value of the start point remains fixed but the vertical position and length of the lines change with the mouse movement. When moving Underlines the 'x' value of the opposite end to that which was selected remains the same while the selected end follows the mouse movement.

Note: This behavior doesn't apply to fixed horizontal and vertical lines. Both ends can be moved but the horizontal or vertical, aspect whichever appropriate remains the same.

Bug fixes:

1) Faulty character set assignment when defining Custom Panel button captions caused some characters to be unavailable. Fixed.

2) Improved instructions in crashcse.rtf, the quick start file.

3) Print preview not clipped to printer.

To install: Backup the old executable mgceq6.exe if you wish (recommended). Run eq6upgd.exe, type in the directory you originally installed Equation Illustrator V to for the 'Unzip To' folder or accept the default and subsequently move the extracted files mgceq6.exe and eq6upgd.txt to the Equation Illustrator V folder. Click 'Unzip' then Ok when prompted.

Changes to 'the function junction' mgceq6.exe previous version 1.1.1.138

PICTURES/PASTES:

A Paste Special dialog now allows images to be pasted as movable/re sizable objects. Selected either from; Edit>Paste Special or from the Popup Menu in the edit space (not available when there is a selection rectangle).

The option to load pictures as movable/re sizable objects is also available when loading pictures.
